Welcome. This is a sampling of the poetry of Michael Egidio Quigg (that's me). I'm calling it a rolling archive. There are 10 poems here now. Every week or two, I'll take out 2 or 3 and replace them with different ones. Any new pieces will appear on my MySpace blog, Beacon's Blog.

Groping

What do you

what do you

what do YOU know?

About me or about thee

Perception's reality a deception

A demonstration of mental contraception

Of a life with blindfold

You won't try to see so how will the truth hold?

Stagger around the liar's den a little more

Don't even consider that you're a whore

Just make sure tight is the knot

Because underneath,

your eyes,

they R O T .

Part of a Whole

I have no delusions

About my confusions

They lead me places

Where I can never see faces

Just the blur of uncertainty

Completely exposing my humanity

Turning my insides out

Causing me to feel drought

So my skin does crack and bleed

And I’m crushed under the stampede

That pounds me into the ground

Drowning out the sound

Of a cacophony of inhuman screams

Down here, there are no dreams

Sleepless Mind

A sleepless mind tries to find a way to sanity

But it's a calamity

Don't know which way to turn

Everywhere it goes all I feel is the yearn

Every breath is a death of sorts

Ugly and painful and covered in warts

Making me more and more mad

Every thought becomes bad

Roll over to try again

But then it's a different den

A new madness

Reaping what was sown by sadness

Afraid to open my eyes

Because my mind's demon flies around me

Attempting to confound me

To skew my perception

Make me believe deception

Tries to deliver me to a new madness

To reap what was sown by sadness

A Mockery

I’m just so sick of my own hypocrisy

Of my ideals it makes a mockery

On everyday I draw a breath

I wish my fear would meet death

And I would join the world of the living

And learn to be more forgiving

Of my countless flaws

And my self-turned claws

Would pull away long enough for

Me to see the opening of the door

The fabric of time grazes against my head

As I try to become undead

Hurrying me along as I stumble and fall

Trying to leap over my own wall

Which seems taller than my will

So my soul it cannot fulfill

I punch and kick at my blocking

And scream as if it can hear me talking

But if it could, laughing it would be

Mocking,

Mocking,

Mocking me.

Another’s

Seeing through another’s eyes

Living another’s lies

Spending another’s days

Lost in another’s ways

Having another’s discontent

Following another’s descent

Becoming another’s slave

Thrown into another’s grave

Feeling another’s pain

Now I am insane

I am not me

I am not you

I am only true

“Slip Sliding Away…”

It isn’t paranoia or superstition

They are on a mission

Control of your soul is the prize

They’re blinding your eyes with lies

Attacked if you’re not the same

Don’t mistakenly think it a game

For them it isn’t hard to see

That their way is the only way to be

It isn’t good enough to be you

You are sinful and untrue

You are un-American

You are not to breathe again

Silver spoon in the house of white

Squash us all out of spite

But I am not to be one

That waits to fight until they’re done

The battle begins now

It is time to gut the sow

Weapons of deception

Used to control perception

Of the evil-doers deeds

Until we all wear widow’s weeds

And wonder what has become

To the dream of being one

It used to be achievable

Now it’s becoming inconceivable

It isn’t good enough to be you

You are sinful and untrue

You are un-American

You are not to breathe again

Win it all with a show of might

Blast us all into that dark night

Turn the world into their domain

Until they are all that remain

The battle begins now

It is time to gut the sow

AYU5

In our own dark age bathed in light

We believe ourselves enlightened

But making the decision to fight

Shows that we are merely frightened

Fear of losing our status

Fear of losing our comfort

We allow the wicked to bait us

And the truth to pervert

We swallow it all like gluttons

Fat, stupid and lazy

Our guts push at our buttons

And our minds see the truth as crazy

Blindly falling into an abyss

Without a care in this world

Our souls are swallowed by darkness

And our evil is unfurled

“Sometimes I Feel As If It’s All a Façade…”

In the beginning I didn’t know

…that I didn’t know

I knew something was off though

I knew something was askew

But it wasn’t me; it was you

You taught me one way

Then lived another everyday

You’d pray and pray and pray

Hoping your demons it would slay

But your truth could not be denied

No matter how frantically you tried

You knew something was askew

But it wasn’t me; it was you

You turned your head away

As if it were all a play

But avoiding the price to pay

Does not clear the way

Disappearing is not for me

I've seen your lies clearly

I knew something was askew

But it wasn’t me; it was you

But I Do

You can pretend I don’t

but I do

You can turn your eyes away

and avoid mine everyday

And you can pretend I don’t

but I do

Your power is but a fallacy,

a gift from the forces of hypocrisy

You can pretend I don’t

but I do

You can bang hard your gavel

and the make spineless grovel

And you can pretend I don’t

but I do

You once strove to make a change

but your ideal did derange

You can pretend I don’t

but I do

Your arrogance knows no peer

as you control through fear

And you can pretend I don’t

but I do

My existence

does not depend on you

 You can pretend I don’t

 But

I
DO

Manifest Destiny

Go west young man and expand the brutality

Go forth and kill in the name of Manifest Destiny

Steal the lands from the ones who care

Take more, so much more, than our share

Turn the dusty trails into graveyards

Follow the lead of the conquering Spaniards

Eliminate cultures disagreeable

And dispose of troubles foreseeable

Go forth young man and expand the brutality

Go forth and kill in the name of Manifest Destiny

Soon you’ll head south young man

To extend our power as far as you can

Take half of Mexico as our own

And exert more power than has ever been known

Bring with you genocide and disease

Rape the women and land and take what you please

Go forth young man and expand the brutality

Go forth and kill in the name of Manifest Destiny

Now back across the pond to exploit ‘til it’s ours

Teach them not to fight lest we use our super powers

For oil we will lie and kill

Spread the greed, show them the thrill

Of wealth and power at any and all cost

And teach them to ignore the mournful cries of lives lost
